San Diego Take Early Control
San Diego FC picked up another important win over LA Galaxy on Saturday night, defeating their Southern California rivals 3–1 at Snapdragon Stadium.
San Diego started the match with plenty of energy and created pressure in the attacking third. Their fast start paid off in the 11th minute when Elias Achouri found the back of the net to give the home side a 1–0 advantage.
LA Galaxy struggled to create clear chances during the opening half, while San Diego looked more comfortable on the ball and dangerous going forward.

San Diego continued where they left off after halftime.
Just three minutes into the second half, Kieran Sargeant scored to make it 2–0. The goal gave San Diego a comfortable lead and put the Galaxy in a difficult position.

San Diego Reduced to 10 Players
In the 50th minute, San Diego captain Jeppe Tverskov was sent off after receiving a second yellow card.
The red card gave LA Galaxy a major opportunity. San Diego now had to defend a two-goal lead with only 10 players on the field.
The Galaxy immediately increased the pressure and looked to take advantage of the extra player.

Lozano Scores Against His Former Team
LA's response came just five minutes later.
Hirving “Chucky” Lozano scored his first goal for the Galaxy, cutting San Diego's lead to 2–1. The goal was especially significant because Lozano had recently moved from San Diego FC to LA Galaxy on loan.
Lozano's goal briefly changed the momentum of the match and gave the visitors confidence that they could complete a comeback.

San Diego Respond Despite Playing a Man Down
Despite being reduced to 10 players, San Diego did not simply sit back.
In the 70th minute, substitute Amahl Pellegrino scored to restore the two-goal advantage. His goal was a major turning point because it came while LA was pushing for an equalizer.

Galaxy Unable to Find Another Goal
LA continued searching for a way back into the game, but San Diego's defense managed to hold firm.
The Galaxy appeared to have scored another goal through Kyogo Furuhashi, but the effort was ruled out after Video Review because of a foul involving Lozano in the buildup.
That decision prevented LA from cutting the deficit and gave San Diego another boost as they moved toward the final whistle.

Lozano's Return Adds Drama
Lozano's return to Snapdragon Stadium was one of the biggest stories before kickoff.
The Mexican international had been an important player for San Diego during the club's first MLS season, making his appearance in a Galaxy shirt against his former team particularly interesting.
Although Lozano scored, his goal was not enough to prevent San Diego from winning. The home supporters ultimately celebrated another victory over their Southern California rivals.
