FC Dallas continued its impressive start to the 2026 Leagues Cup on Saturday night, defeating Chivas de Guadalajara 1-0 at PayPal Park behind a second-half goal from Logan Farrington.
The victory gave Dallas back-to-back wins to open the tournament and moved the MLS side to a perfect six points from two matches. For Chivas, the defeat left the Liga MX club with just one point from its opening two games and made its path to the knockout stage significantly more difficult.

A Cagey Opening
The match began with both sides showing plenty of caution.
Chivas looked to establish possession and control the tempo, while FC Dallas remained organized defensively and waited for opportunities to counter.
As the first half progressed, Chivas began to see more of the ball and put Dallas under increasing pressure. The Liga MX side eventually finished the match with 67% possession, but much of that possession failed to translate into clear-cut chances.
FC Dallas, meanwhile, stayed compact and focused on limiting Chivas' opportunities inside the penalty area.
The two teams entered halftime still deadlocked at 0-0.

Dallas Stands Firm
The second half followed a similar pattern, with Chivas continuing to control much of the possession.
But FC Dallas' defensive performance became one of the biggest stories of the night.
Goalkeeper Jonathan Sirois repeatedly kept his team in front of the danger, eventually finishing the match with five saves. His performance was particularly important as Chivas searched for a breakthrough.
Despite spending long stretches without the ball, Dallas remained dangerous whenever it found space in transition.
That patience eventually paid off.

Farrington Delivers the Breakthrough
The decisive moment arrived in the 73rd minute.
FC Dallas finally broke through when Logan Farrington found the back of the net to give Dallas a 1-0 advantage.
Farrington's goal came after a well-executed attacking sequence involving Santiago Moreno, who provided the assist. The goal completely changed the final stages of the match, forcing Chivas to push even further forward in search of an equalizer.
For Dallas, the priority became protecting the lead.
For Chivas, the pressure was now on.

Chivas Pushes for an Equalizer
Trailing 1-0, Chivas increased the pressure during the closing minutes.
The Guadalajara side continued to circulate the ball and looked for openings around the Dallas penalty area, but the Burn maintained their defensive shape.
Chivas' dominance in possession ultimately could not produce the goal it needed.
Dallas' back line stayed organized, while Sirois remained composed whenever Chivas managed to test him.
The final whistle eventually confirmed a major result for the MLS club: FC Dallas 1, Chivas 0.

A Statement Victory for FC Dallas
The result was much more than three points.
FC Dallas entered the tournament looking to make an impact, and after two matches, the Burn had done exactly that.
The victory over Chivas followed their opening Leagues Cup win, giving Dallas a perfect 2-0-0 record and six points after two matches.
Two consecutive clean sheets also highlighted the defensive foundation behind Dallas' early success.
With the knockout rounds becoming a realistic possibility, FC Dallas suddenly looked like one of the MLS clubs capable of making a deeper run.

Chivas Left Searching for Answers
For Chivas, the result represented another frustrating night.
The Guadalajara side controlled much of the match and finished with the majority of possession, but possession alone was not enough to break down Dallas' defense.
After opening the tournament with a penalty-shootout defeat, Chivas now had just one point after two matches, leaving the club with little margin for error heading into its final Phase One match.
The defeat also continued a difficult start to the tournament for Chivas, who entered the competition hoping to compete with the strongest MLS sides.

Dallas Builds Momentum
FC Dallas now enters the final stage of Phase One with significant momentum.
The Burn have shown that they can win in different ways: controlling matches when necessary, defending for long stretches and capitalizing when an opportunity finally arrives.
Against Chivas, that formula worked perfectly.
One goal from Farrington. Five saves from Sirois. Another clean sheet. Another win.
FC Dallas left PayPal Park with all three points and a perfect record, while Chivas was left needing a strong finish to keep its Leagues Cup campaign alive.
For Dallas, however, the message was clear: the Burn are here to compete.
